All recitals
take place on Sundays at 1:30 pm at Morphy Recital Hall, which is located
at the
UW School
of Music
455 N. Park
St.
Madison, WI 53706
Teachers, if you would
like your student to play in one of the recitals, please contact
Andrew Waid (agwaid@yahoo.com)
and submit:
student's name and instrument, piece, movement title, and composer's name, aproximate
duration of the
piece, and name of accompanist if applicable.
Encourage your
students to come to the recitals. Recitals not only give us an opportunity
to perform, but a way to share our own learning and teaching experiences.
Some Guidelines to enjoying your Recital
1.We encourage both teachers and their students to come and listen
to an IST recital before taking part in one.
2.You have worked hard to prepare the piece that is to be performed.
But, did you practice walking on and off the stage properly?. Do
you know how to bow to theaudience? Ask your teacher to practice
this
with you in your lesson.
3. A recital is a special occasion. Please do not come in torn jeans
and t-shirts. Find some clothes that are semi-formal and practice
at least once with your special clothes on at home. You need to be
comfortable.
4. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the recital.
That gives you time to tune and lets your instrument get used to
the hall. A deep breath or two will calm you.
5. Please stay to the end of the recital. Everybody likes an audience
and you might hear something that you would like to play yourself
one day. Plus, it is fun to hear and encourage other students.
