Shauncey Ali

A founding member of Madison’s SweetGrass, the Old Tin Can String Band, Graminy and Kadence, Shauncey has been performing with bands, orchestras and chamber groups, teaching a private studio, and been featured on numerous recording projects over the past decade. As a classically trained violist, he attended UW-Madison as a Music Clinic Scholarship recipient and graduated with a BS in botany in 2004. Soon after, he began teaching privately and studying American grassroots fiddle styles, playing in groups ranging from bluegrass to Bartok, celtic to Copland, and old-time to Klezmer. In addition to having instructed at the UW Summer Music Clinic and Prelude Summer Music Camps, he hailed as the 2008-2009 Wisconsin Fiddle Champion.
